Litre Meter at OE 2015

01 September 2015

Flow measurement specialist Litre Meter will be showing a range of new products on stand A560 at Offshore Europe next week. In addition to the company’s latest calibration rig there will be new meters, a new display and new sensors.

The product line-up will include:

* A redesigned range of Litre Meter’s popular VFF (viscous fluid flow) positive displacement flowmeters. The innovations in VFF technology make it ideal for bespoke flow measurement.

Innovations include a new compact size with reduced weight using high strength material specifications for high pressure applications. The new range is suitable for low and high viscosity liquids at pressures from 141 bar right up to 4,000 bar (60,000 psi). It covers the measurement of fluids with viscosities from 0.3 centistokes (cSt) to 100,000 cSt and flow rates from 0.0008 l/hr to 16,200 l/hr.

* The LF03 - a new, more compact, meter in its LF flowmeter series which is capable of measuring even lower flow rates. For example, on a fluid with a viscosity of 10 cSt the LF03 will measure down to 0.06 litres/hour at pressures of 1 bar right up to 4,000 bar.

Chambers and rotors are physical vapour deposition (PVD) coated with a hard metal chromium nitride base layer for hardness and support for a carbon (WC/C) coating. The WC/C coating delivers robust protection against adhesive wear and its low coefficient of friction reduces the risk of surface pitting and corrosion, vastly improving turndown and low flow capability.

* A new state-of-the-art lightweight flow indication display which enables continual flow, even during routine maintenance or calibration. It is expected to find widespread application in the oil and gas industries, particularly for chemical injection systems.

The new Flowpod is one of the smallest flow displays on the market. It is an evolution of the existing large eight digit LCD display to provide additional functionality which has been requested by users.

This includes the facility to display flow rate, total flow and analog rate. The backlit display, which features high contrast ratio large flow rate indication and totalizer indication, enables the display to be read at distance in poor light conditions.

Calibration modes can be easily switched without having to remove the Flowpod from the installation or having to perform difficult on-site calibration curve changes. Data logging capabilities enable recalibration to be tailored to the actual working flow rate of the meter.

The Flowpod is housed in a four-inch explosion proof stainless steel enclosure and is ATEX, IECEx and CSA approved.

* New sensor solutions to complement its revamped range of VFF flowmeters.

Litre Meter’s reed sensor package has been improved and now comes in a 316 stainless steel enclosure which is easy to install within the VFF range. The sensor comes complete with two reed switches that can be set for reverse flow detection or redundancy.

The sensor is tested to one billion pulses and environmentally tested in accordance with BS EN 13628-6: 2006. It is temperature rated to -20 to +80°C and it is available with the two or four wire Flowpod.
