Eleven injured in Abu Dhabi factory blast

23 October 2015

Eleven people were injured, seven of them critically, after an explosion at Gulf Piping Company in the Mussafah industrial area, Abu Dhabi, at around 2pm on October 22. Police cordoned off a 500m area around the blast site, and Khaleej Times quoted sources saying the explosion was due to a significant carbon monoxide leak at the factory.

Gautam Kumar, health and safety supervisor at the company, told Khaleej Times that the exact cause of the blast is still unknown and the police are investigating the matter, so it's too early to draw conclusions. "We have injuries but no fatality," he added.
