The DuPont "4 P” approach to understanding and managing electrical arc hazards will be summarized (Predict, Prevent, Protect and Publish). Where the risk cannot be controlled by prevention or where there is a residual risk of injury then it may be necessary to consider Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent injury to the worker.

Within the Protect section, the new arc flash standards IEC 61482-2, EN 61482-1-1 and EN 61482-1-2 will be highlighted together with a lightweight, comfortable European layering approach to ensure that the worker is not restricted from cumbersome clothing.
