Three firefighters injured in explosion on Irish farm

Three firefighters were injured after a container exploded at the scene of a fire at a farm near Macroom in Co Cork. The three members of Macroom Fire Brigade suffered injuries to their hands and faces when a barrel of liquid exploded while they were fighting the fire in a shed in the farm at Rae, Tarelton.

Garda technical experts will carry out a forensic examination to determine the nature of the substance that exploded. They have removed a number of empty barrels for testing, but are satisfied that foul play was not involved.
