Removing complexity without compromising safety
05 August 2016
Increased pressure over CAPEX and OPEX budgets, more complex plants, and lack of experienced personnel can present big challenges to plant operations, especially for safety applications. Emerson’s modern process safety system, DeltaV™ SIS, removes complexity throughout the entire safety lifecycle.

Built to comply with the current safety standards, Emerson’s DeltaV SIS process safety system allows you to meet safety requirements quickly. A secure communication engine, with privileges based on the user’s profile, prevents unauthorised access to the DeltaV SIS™ logic solver, while an advanced built-in logger ensures every maintenance and operation intervention is properly logged related to the appropriate Safety Instrumented Function (SIF).
Change management is also simplified by a powerful version-control tool that allows key features such as check-in/check-out, electronic signature, and rollback. Multiple versions of the application can be stored and compared in a highly visual way, presenting text or graphics comparison.
The out-of-the-box diagnostics enabled by the embedded HART protocol and seamless integration to the Asset Management Solution, grants an expanded visibility to the field devices, setting the basis for the Smart SIS approach. The DeltaV SIS literally sees what happens in the field, and by leveraging built-for-application function blocks, it can take a smarter and (even more important) a safer decision to prevent unnecessary trips to the field.
DeltaV SIS also incorporates Electronic Marshalling with CHARMs technology, allowing easy accommodation of late project changes. You have the flexibility to make changes without putting schedule or safety at risk because Electronic Marshalling separates the safety loop installation from logic configuration.
