26 August 2016

According to VietNamNet Bridge on August 25, an explosion at a coal gasification furnace at Trung Do Granite brick factory in the central Nghe An Province has killed two workers. They were immediately given first aid at Nghe An General Hospital and then moved to the Hanoi National Burns Hospital where both died of their severe injuries.

Answering reporters’ questions about the cause of the explosion, a factory manager said all four furnaces were under an automatic control system and the explosion could have occurred because faulty alarms did not show operating problems.

Officials are investigating the cause of the explosion.
