Fire, explosion deaths up in Vietnam over first 9 months of 2016

The Vietnamese Fire Prevention and Fight Department says a total of 2,460 fires and explosions were recorded across Vietnam in the first nine months of 2016, killing 90 people and injuring 216. Losses caused by these fires and explosions came to 1,058 billion Vietnamese dong (47.4 million US dollars) the organisation said, in a report picked up and disseminated by Xinhua.
In the same period last year, Vietnam suffered 2,342 fires and explosions, which left 70 people dead and 245 others injured, and caused losses of 835.3 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 37.5 million US dollars).
Natural disasters killed or left 125 people missing, injured 266 others, and caused property losses of some 10,500 billion Vietnamese dong (470.8 million US dollars) in the first nine months of 2016, according to Vietnam's General Statistics Office.
