Iowa renewable energy plant blast injures one

At least one person has been reported injured in a tanker fire at an ethanol plant south of Council Bluffs, Iowa, on October 7. Police said there were two explosions at the Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy plant on Interstate 29 and that a tanker driver was critically injured in the incident.

The local fire service said it took up to an hour to bring the blaze under control. The injured man was taken by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital.
