Hazardex 2017 Conference

The Hazardex 2017 event took place on March 2 & 3 in Runcorn, Cheshire - thank you to all who attended and participated. Contact us for details of the 2018 event, which will be staged on March 1st & 2nd at the same venue.

Lead presentations included one on industry cybersecurity requirements prior to the HSE publishing its operational guidance, presented by the ECI Acting Head of Operations at the HSE and the Safety & Commercial Director at UKPIA.

The Chairman of IECEx spoke on future developments within the IECEx system, Human Factors Consultant John Wilkinson and Simon Monnington of BP on knowledge and competence in high hazard industries, and Rob Magraw of BakerRisk Europe on expanding risk assessment in the chemical and refining industries.

Other speakers included the Principal Engineer, Process Instruments at Sellafield Ltd, Principal Process Safety Consultant at Lockheed Martin UK Information Systems, and Training Manager at NuStar Terminals Ltd, amongst many others.

More than 30 process safety experts from a range of backgrounds presented original papers of key importance to the high hazard sector, ABB ran workshops on IEC61511 and DSEAR, and over 40 exhibitors made the event the largest grouping of hazardous area product and service specialists in the UK this year.
