12 confirmed dead following east China factory explosion

A total of 12 missing people were killed in an explosion on November 8 at a factory in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, local authorities said. The explosion occurred in a workshop at Dongfeng Mechanical and Electrical Science Co. in Shucheng County, according to Xinhua.

There were 15 people working in the workshop at the time of the incident and three people have been hospitalised. The 12 fatalities have been pulled from the wreckage over the past fortnight.

An investigation into the cause of the blast continues, Xinhua says.
