Entirely designed to be easy to use and practical, the iRFID500 is fully ATEX and IECEx certified for use in Zone 0, 1, and 2 hazardous areas, and M1, alongside North American certification. It’s fully rugged and suitable for industrial environments, too.

Use with a range of smart devices

The iRFID500 comes with Bluetooth capability, able to connect with smart devices like tablets as part of your Industrial Internet of Things. You can view tag reads in real time, and add more information such as what maintenance tasks were carried out, or which operator was working on which piece of equipment. What's more, you can use the tablet operating system of your choosing; the iRFID500 works with Windows, Android, and Apple devices.

Operate as a standalone

With a large internal memory, the iRFID500 doesn't need to connect to a smart device to be used. If you don't need to add extra details or don't have access to a tablet, simply use the iRFID500 as a standalone. Its internal clock function stamps each tag read with a date and time, providing a clear audit trail for compliance. You can access the tag read data quickly by connecting the iRFID500 to a computer via the USB connection cable, making you more efficient and fitting in with your work processes.

Integrate with your existing systems

Software development kits for both Windows and Android are available, enabling you to build closer integrations between the iRFID500 and your systems for a personalised solution that directly suits your application.

The development kit (SDK) includes software libraries that make it easier to integrate the iRFID500 reader technology. These libraries define a high level object-oriented interface that permits communication with all readers in easy2read mode, allowing developers to focus their resources on the application development instead of wasting time with the communication protocol details.

The libraries are available for Visual C++, JAVA, Android and Microsoft .Net and are bundled with the IRFID500 development kits as a royalty-free license.

Long battery life designed for shift work

With a long battery life lasting for over 12 hours, the iRFID500 is fit for purpose - minimising downtime and maximising efficiency. The power LED changes colour from green, to yellow, to red indicating how much battery life is remaining, so you can charge the device when needed and be confident that it won't die in the middle of a task.

Practical size and shape

Around the size of a smartphone and with an attachment point for a wrist strap, lanyard, or belt clip, the iRFID500 is easy to carry without a risk of damaging the unit or restricting your movement. The lightweight and ergonomic design means you won't get fatigued as the shift wears on, allowing you to work more effectively.

No need to remove gloves

The large buttons are designed to be glove-friendly, so you don't need to take off your protective gloves to use the iRFID500 - no time wasted removing gloves or putting them back on. The stylus nib means you can even operate a connected tablet whilst wearing gloves, avoiding unnecessary time wasting and helping you work more productively.

Straightforward to operate

The iRFID500 is designed to be operated single handed, leaving the other hand free to hold railings or carry additional equipment, like a tablet. There's visual, auditory, and vibration feedback to make it simple to use successfully, with minimal training.

Adjustable to suit operator needs in the field

The iRFID500's read range can be adjusted by the operator to easily distinguish between different tags, and read tags from up to 1m away. No need to get a ladder or carry out a risk assessment to inventory assets kept on a high shelf, for instance - making the process safer and more efficient.

Fit for all weather operation

The iRFID500 is IP64 rated, able to continue working even whilst being splashed with water, so there's no need to repair or replace units after using them in the rain. The iRFID500 can also be used in a wide range of temperatures from -20°C to +55°C, so it can go wherever you do.

Works with UHF passive RFID tags

The iRFID500 reads UHF passive RFID tags such as Extronics' intrinsically safe iTAG500 range. This iTAG500 series is highly durable and suitable for use in hazardous areas. Designed with Omni-ID, the iTAG500 series uses their unique plasmonic structure for superior performance in metallic environments, such as those found in the process industries. The tags will also still work when covered in oil or water, so there's no need to clean them before reading - saving you time and effort.
