Explosion at fireworks company in Portugal kills one

According to a source at the Relief Operations Centre (CDOS) in Oporto, reported in O Leme Jornais, a worker was killed in a blast at the Douro Pirotecnia factory in northern Portugal. Emergency workers at the site confirmed there were no further casualties. In 2010, another company employee was killed in an explosion while handling pyrotechnic products.
The 50-year-old victim operated alone in one of the many individual buildings scattered across the 120,000-square-meter forest area of ??the factory.
Hélder Ferreira, commander of the Amarante Municipal Civil Potection, said that the company complied with safety regulations.
