Three missing after explosion on Chinese tanker

On March 19, the Chinese product tanker Xing Long Zhou 569 suffered an explosion and fire about 120 nm southeast of Qingdao in the Yellow Sea, according to Xinhua. The Ministry of Transport Beihai Rescue Bureau dispatched two salvage tugs and a helicopter to the scene, and the first responders rescued 13 out of the tanker's 16 crew members. The fire was brought under control and the tanker was taken in tow. The vessel, owned by Zhejiang owner Xing Long Zhou Shipping, is being taken to Shidao Port for maintenance and investigations into the cause of the incident.
