Fixed Point Capacitance Level Probe Approved to Latest ATEX/IECEx standards

20 April 2017

Synatel Instrumentation Ltd., a UK designer and manufacturer of level controls, proximity sensors,  speed monitors, counter displays and photoelectric sensors for industry, have had their highly successful Digimatic fixed point level control approved to the latest ATEX EN 60079 and also IECEx IEC 60079 standards. The unit is approved for use in explosive dust hazard areas (Dust zone 20).

The new Digimatic is known as the DML4AI and retains all the features of the previous version.
This includes: Multi voltage supply, 24V dc 110/230V ac. Volt free, change over relay contact output. Power shield compensator to offset material clinging to the probe rod and giving false high level reading. Adjustable timer for fluidic material to prevent spurious tripping due to splashing etc.

The Digimatic mounts via a 1” male BSP threaded fitting and various probe rods are available to suit most applications, ranging from 100mm long solid rod to a 10 meter wire rope and weigh assembly. Probe rods can easily be cut to required length, on site, with a hacksaw.

Commissioning of the Digimatic DML4AI consists of performing an ‘empty setting’ via a keypad, when the unit is installed in the empty vessel and then, either filling the vessel and performing a ‘full setting’; or manually entering a figure (shown in the sensors manual) to simulate the full reading. Once calibrated, the sensors are designed as fit and forget products.

Short power shield and also Flush mounting versions are available for tight space applications such as blocked chute etc.

Other ‘approved’ sensors include inductive and capacitive proximity switches, under speed monitors and Whirligig attachment.
