Two killed in Indian quarry after lightning strikes explosives

On May 18, a quarry blast at Madapanta, Ramanagara, in the Southern Indian state of Karnataka, was confirmed to have killed two workers and injured another nine. According to a witness report in the Times of India, the workers were placing explosives in heavy rain when lightning struck the quarry, causing a bundle to explode.

Police said they had registered a criminal case under IPC Section 304 (A), death due to negligence, but the quarry owners had absconded.
