Axair Group announces release of first ATEX IP68 Compact Fan to market

05 June 2017

Staffordshire based business the Axair Group, holding company of both Axair Fans and Axair Refrigeration, is making big strides in innovation within the air movement industry, being the first company to stock ATEX IP68 frame axial fans.

The product is not only ATEX certified to II 3G EX making it suitable for use in potentially hazardous environments, but also has a fully encapsulated electronically commutated (EC) motor, meaning the new innovative product uses 80% less energy than its AC counterpart, keeping in line with Axair’s strong social responsibility policy and goals to reduce customers' energy consumption. Ingress protected to IP68, the fully encapsulated motor resists both dust and liquid ingress making it the ideal solution for air movement applications that are open to changing atmospheres such as outdoors or those with dust filled environments.

The CE and UL approved Axair branded fan, which has an average lifetime of 70,000 hours at 40 degrees Celsius, is currently available in one popular size, 120x120x38 in 3 speeds, 1700rpm, 2600rpm and 3000rpm, with low rated power levels aiding its energy efficiency. The fan can be used in a whole host of applications including, but not limited to, commercial refrigeration, electronic cooling, enclosure cooling, chemical storage rooms etc.…

The Axair Group continues to operate in a large section of the industrial and OEM market, catering to applications such as thermal management, fume extraction and Biomass in addition to General HVAC components. Commercial refrigeration applications using CO2 compressors and other flammable gases are at risk of explosion in the unfortunate event of a leak occurring.

The use of ATEX components is a huge advantage to large supermarket brands and commercial refrigeration display cabinet manufacturers as increased pressure is placed upon them to deliver safe and efficient product solutions.

Managing Director Grant Edwards commented:
“Following the launch of Axair Refrigeration, our focus has been on delivering products that the market wants and needs. The Launch of our ATEX IP68 compact axial fan fills a longstanding gap in the market that is required in many potentially hazardous applications”.

Axair is excited about this product innovation and welcomes new and existing customers to get in touch regarding any industrial or commercial requirements. For additional ATEX certified products for use in the industrial and marine sector, Axair continues to offer centrifugal, axial and roof fans from innovative and experienced supplier partner Casals Ventilation.

ATEX is an acronym for “atmospheres explosibles” and is part of the European directive known as ATEX 2014-34 EU. The directive ensures that manufacturing standards are kept and meets an established level of safety. This will protect people against the risk that may be caused by dangerous substances. An application will require an explosion proof ATEX fan if there are flammable, combustible gases or dust present at any time in the airstream
