Three men critically burned in explosion at car wash in Canada

Three men suffered serious burns to their legs in an explosion at a car wash in Red Deer, Alberta, on August 18. Two workers were transferring liquid vinyl protector from an old bottle to a new one in the detailing bay when the explosion happened. Two are in a life-threatening condition and were transported to hospital in an air ambulance, while the other has serious injuries.

The three were handling the flammable chemical used to clean tires near an open flame when the explosion happened, the town’s Emergency Services Department said.

Red Deer Fire Investigation, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety and Red Deer RCMP are investigating the explosion, which has been deemed to be non-criminal in nature.
