KTR at Offshore Europe this Sept 5-8 in Aberdeen

KTR will be showcasing its ROTEX® Non-Sparking jaw couplings at Offshore Europe this Sept 5-8 in Aberdeen. For maintenance-free use in potentially explosive environments, this innovative failsafe coupling assures operation in cases of spider element wear while reliably preventing sparking.

The jaw geometry of the ROTEX® Non-Sparking consists of a conductive high-tenacity plastic that is injected onto the hub body which continues to be made of steel or other metals such as aluminium. The newly developed synthetic material prevents any static charging and is also designed to be so hardwearing that even in cases of elastomer wear out, torque will still be transmitted without any danger of sparking. As a result, maintenance work can be postponed to a convenient time frame.

The failsafe and maintenance-free ROTEX® Non-Sparking is certified under EU directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 95) and thus deemed suitable for the use in explosive atmospheres. The shaft coupling has a compact design and can be axially plugged in. It offers good dynamic properties, excellent vibration damping and a low moment of inertia. The coupling's precision-machining positively influences.

KTR will also show its ATEX approved range of oil/air blast coolers. KTR has been awarded ATEX certification for its range of oil/air coolers for sizes OAC200 to OAC900 with 230V/400V fan drive and fan drive with hydraulic motor. The approval is certified by the independent institute IBExU and is valid for all the above-mentioned sizes of the OAC oil/air cooler for non-electric devices and components within the group I and II, device category M2, 2 and 3. This approval includes the OAC coolers for marine applications that are coated with a KTL dipping paint.
