Barcelona bakery blast injures 21

18 September 2017

At least 21 people have been injured after two explosions ripped through a bakery in Barcelona on September 16. One person is said to be in a critical condition, eight are serious and 12 have minor injuries. Local authorities said the blast was thought to be due to a gas leak in the bakery, rather than an act of terrorism.

Most of the injuries were due to smoke inhalation rather than external wounds.

The flames were put out almost immediately and did not affect any other buildings nearby but the giant column of smoke was visible for some distance, according to local media.
