Three injured during explosion at Florida food additives plant

According to the local fire department, three people suffered chemical burn injuries in a chemical explosion at the Natural Advantage Food Flavorings plant at Lakeland in Florida on September 17. All three are reportedly in a stable condition and around 50 were evacuated from the locality after the incident.

According to the fire department, the chemicals involved were toluene and sodium hypochlorite, chemicals used to clean the kettles the food flavourings are made in.

Lakeland is between Tampa and Orlando in central Florida.
