Boiler blast at Indian sugar mill kills four, injures nine
21 December 2017
Four labourers died on the night of December 20 after a boiler exploded at Sasa Musa sugar mill in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. Nine injured in the same blast have been admitted to local hospitals, and most were in a critical condition. The reason behind the boiler blast is yet to be ascertained, and the police have arrested the owner of the sugar mill as part of their enquiries.
Local sources said that at the time of the explosion, there were at least 100 workers in the sugar factory.
On November 5, at least 15 labourers were injured, seven of them seriously, when a fire broke out at a sugar mill in Haryana following an explosion in an oil tank. The blast followed a leakage in the boiler, police said.
