According to the Times of India, this is not the first time the SS Steel factory has witnessed a furnace blast. On November 10, last year, four people were killed in a similar explosion while four others were injured.

Then, factory owner Suresh Goyal was charged with negligence causing death, however a lack of follow-up paperwork meant the charge was not pursued.
