Russian shipyard blast kills one, injures nine

One worker lost his life and nine others were injured in an explosion at the Russian Almaz shipbuilding yard on April 11, Sputnik reported, citing a statement from local authorities. According to the report, the explosion occurred inside a research ship which was undergoing repairs at the St. Petersburg-based yard.
A law enforcement source confirmed that the incident took place when a gas cylinder exploded in a Kamchatka-type research vessel, which was being repaired in the yard. The incident took place during painting operations in the hull of the vessel, Sputnik said.
The injured workers sustained burns and were suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, local media reports said.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.
