French factory explosion injures three
08 June 2018
On June 7 an explosion at the Soprema plant in Saint-Julien-du-Sault, 25 km from Sens in central France, injured three workers, two seriously. The cause was initially attributed to two contractors using a grinder near a tank where solvents were stored. The subsequent fire was quickly extinguished by company personnel.
Soprema makes waterproofing and thermal insulation materials and the Saint-Julien-du-Sault plant is categorised Seveso Upper Tier.
The plant suffered an explosion and fire in 2012 and in March 2016 the site had to be evacuated after a fire started in a silo.
