Officials said the explosion may have originated in a dust collection point, according to a local television news station. The three injured people were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Three people were injured in an explosion at a water treatment facility in Stamford, Connecticut, on August 1. Officials at the water treatment plant told first responders that there might have been a dust explosion, according to the fire department.

No fire was found, officials said, but the explosion damaged several roll-up garage doors and several windows.

Local officials as well as OSHA were notified, and the Stamford fire marshal's office is investigating.
