Factory explosion kills two, injures eight in China

An explosion at a factory in the city of Danyang in the east of China has killed two people and injured eight others. State-run news agency Xinhua said the blast happened on May 15 at a factory which manufacturers glue for shoes.

The explosion happened at around 11:00 local time causing a fire which was extinguished later in the day. One of the injured was taken to hospital in a serious condition while the seven others were taken to hospital as a precaution. 

The two workers who died had been trapped in the factory after the blast. Firefighters conducted a search and rescue operation once the fire was put out, however the two workers were pronounced dead at the scene. 

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast.
