Factory explosion kills seven in China

An explosion at a polyethylene factory in northern China killed seven people and injured one on November 12. The blast happened in Hebei Province at around 18:00 local time, local authorities said.

A search and rescue operation was conducted shortly after emergency services arrived at the scene southwest of Beijing in Wuji province. Local authorities were unable to say what the cause of the explosion was.
Local police added that an investigation would begin immediately.
Explosions at chemical plants and factories in China are not uncommon. On September 28, an explosion at a chemical plant killed five workers and injured one other at the Yuekou Industrial Park in the city of Tianmen.
