Training & competence
Training will take place within the HazardEx 2011 event complex. Delegates attending the above must have at least a basic understanding of the IEC 60079 series of standards and other relevant ISO/IEC standards and ATEX/DSEAR principles.
The training is available in a “modular” format, and delegates can therefore pick and choose which lectures they wish to attend. Delegates are asked to register prior to the event by contacting Sira.
IECEx Certification of Personnel Competence Scheme
The IECEx Certified Persons Scheme provides the global Ex industries with a single system for the assessment and qualification of persons meeting the competency prerequisites needed to properly implement the safety requirements based on the suite of IEC International Standards covering explosive atmospheres, e.g. the IEC 60079 and IEC 61241 series of standards.
The scheme, launched in July 2010, provides companies with independent proof that a person holding an IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence has the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the International Ex Standards. This can be especially important for contracting staff.
The scheme is divided into several units, of which the first unit – ‘Unit Ex001’ (a prerequisite module) covers “basic principles of protection in explosive atmospheres”, and competence in this unit is assessed by formal examination. The training offered by Sira during HazardEx 2011 will summarise the key ‘knowledge’ areas of explosive atmospheres, allowing candidates to undertake examination in the scheme.
More information about the training, the IECEx scheme and its scope is available from Sira. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
