06 September 2013

One worker was killed and another was injured when an oilfield tank exploded near Bristow, Oklahoma. Firefighters who arrived on the scene found a large oilfield tank and two trucks in flames. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Investigators said two men were working to stop a leaking tank battery. They were transferring oil from one tank to another when something sparked an explosion.

The explosion was described as loud and could be heard several miles away, local sources said.
