World's first Apparatus Certified, Intrinsically Safe RF Isolator
23 September 2013
Extronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment, has recently announced the launch of the world's first associated apparatus certified intrinsically safe Radio Frequency galvanic isolator, the iSOLATE500. Resulting from four years of research and development by the UK based specialists; the iSOLATE500 is a major breakthrough in hazardous area wireless networking.
Fully certified for use by ATEX and IECEx, the iSOLATE500 enables standard wireless equipment to be deployed in the vast majority of hazardous areas without the need for costly assessment by notified bodies. Live connect and disconnect of antennas is now allowed and the whole process of deploying wireless networks in hazardous areas is made a far simpler, elegant and more cost - effective process.
Key features are:
* Blocks all AC, DC & Hazardous Transient faults
* Enables the use of standard RF equipment
* Enables any antenna to be used - improved performance
* No need for notified body assessment
* Simple installation using conventional tools
* ATEX & IECEx approved with FM certification pending
* Available in 5GHz, 2.4GHz and 900MHz versions
“In the last two years the interest we have seen an upsurge in enquiries about hazardous area wireless networking” said John Hartley, M.D. Extronics. “However, the complexity and expense of installation has been a significant inhibitor. Now companies can roll out their chosen standard Wi-Fi equipment across all areas of their business. The iSOLATE500 may only have a small form factor but we expect it to make a massive impact on the market.”
The iSOLATE500 is designed & built in the UK by Extronics - a company with 20 years of experience in the hazardous area market. For further information on this important wireless innovation then please visit the Extronics website – www.extronics.com
