Blast in Japan steel plant leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

One person was killed and at least three others injured after an explosion on November 25 at the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. Yahata plant in southwestern Japan, according to Kyodo News. The incident occurred as gas caught fire during steel-hardening work at the plant located in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture.

The three injured were sent to a hospital. One suffered serious burns while the other two had minor injuries after breathing smoke, according to the report.
