20 February 2014

Three people, including two guards, were killed and two others sustained injuries when a 36-inch diameter gas pipeline, located in the Mir Kosh area near Obaro, Ghotki, exploded on February 18, according to Pakistani news sources. Gas supplies from the Qadirpur gas field to parts of Punjab and Sindh were suspended after the explosion, which caused massive flames visible for miles and led to the evacuation of the local area. Official sources said that gas supply to power plants in Faisalabad and Kabirwala was also suspended after the incident.
