07 March 2014
On March 12, a worker at the Standard Steel facility in Burnham, central Pennsylvania, suffered serious injuries in a suspected gas explosion. Local public safety officials said an explosion and small fire occurred in a locker room facility and the employee was being treated at a regional burns unit for serious injuries.
All other employees were quickly accounted for and no other injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the explosion was not immediately clear but officials believe it was some kind of a mechanical failure that caused a gas leak.
