Ten injured in Moroccan cement factory blast

According to a report in, an explosion at the Ciments du Maroc plant injured 10 of the staff. The explosion happened after a breakdown in one of the plant’s rotary furnaces. Eight have first-degree and two third-degree burns, according to a local source quoted by the website, with the latter taken to hospital in Casablanca. 

Ciments du Maroc is a subsidiary of Italcementi and is the largest cement company in Morocco. Its Ayir plant  is 35km from the town of Safi on Morocco’s Atlantic coast.
