CNR North Sea platform still idle one month after shutdown

07 May 2014

Operations are still suspended on CNR International’s Tiffany platform, situated 250km north east of Aberdeen, after two fires earlier this year led to its shutdown on April 6. The shutdown happened after a small fire, less than four months after an oil leak caused a fire on the platform.

The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation into the second incident. The HSE issued two improvement notices to CNR after sprinklers failed to activate during the first fire on January 17, which was caused by a faulty oil seal.

A spokesman for the Canadian company said: “CNR can confirm production on Tiffany remains shut down to allow all appropriate and necessary activities to be completed. The company is working with the Health and Safety Executive throughout this process and is satisfied with progress.”

There were no injuries during either of the incidents.
