The state government has announced compensation for the injured and for the families of the deceased. The administration has ordered a magisterial probe into the matter.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.

The Superintendent of Police of Ujjain District told local media that the factory owner had been arrested. Apparently more explosives were stored on the site than was permitted in its license.
