Cable carriers for ATEX applications

01 July 2014

In many areas, the operating and ambient conditions demand a specific material property for cable carriers.  KABELSCHLEPP Metool offers products made for ATEX applications with suitable special synthetic materials.

ATEX-regulations must be considered in many industries. Typical areas of application are the chemical, mining, oil and gas exploitation plus processing and petrochemical companies. Even in food processing, explosive dust mixtures occur – examples are coffee, cocoa, starches and flour. Equipment must conform to ATEX regulations for the respective hazard category or zone.

The zone level makes the difference

As standard, all KABELSCHLEPP plastic cable carriers are made from a material that can be used in Zone II3GD which covers the majority of applications.  This for example conforms to a filling station environment beyond the effective range of the dispensing equipment.

A special plastic material has been developed for cable carriers for applications in Zone II2GD.  The composition of this material conforms to the required ATEX levels. This may be operation in the vicinity of gases, vapors and dusts for the temperature classes T1 to T6.

Cable carriers of this design are intended for use on machines and systems certified in accordance with the ATEX guideline.  Not forgetting our stainless carriers which comply to Zone II2GD and II3GD!
