According to Blackburn News, an explosion at Shell’s Sarnia refinery in Ontario injured two workers. Company spokesman Randy Provencal says the blast occurred at around 11:30am at the refinery steam plant on July 3. He said a steam unit was being taken offline for maintenance at the time of the explosion.
Provencal said a Shell employee is still in hospital in stable condition while a contractor was treated and released. The Labour Ministry, Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and the Technical Standards & Safety Authority are investigating.
Ministry of Labour Investigators have issued a “Do Not Disturb The Scene” requirement to the company until the investigation into the incident is complete.
