UK HSE consultation on EU Offshore Safety Directive

The public consultation on the Offshore Safety Directive began on July 28. As the Directive contains requirements relating to licensing, safety and environmental protection and emergency response, the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Health and Safety Executive are jointly leading the implementation
DECC and HSE are also working with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Department for Transport and the Devolved Administrations.
In addition to implementing the Directive, HSE is also consulting on plans to update onshore oil and gas health and safety legislation to take account of emerging energy technologies and on the review of two Approved Codes of Practice: Prevention of Fire and Explosion, and Emergency Response on Offshore Installations (PFEER); and Health Care and First Aid on Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works.
