ecom and Samsung launch world’s first ATEX zone 1 tablet
11 November 2014
The next generation of hazardous area mobile technology is here with the new Tab-Ex, which has been developed in an exciting partnership between ecom and Samsung. The Tab-Ex gives oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical engineers access to technical documents, paperless work orders, compliance certificates and historical asset data in the field.
The Tab-Ex, developed by both ecom and Samsung, is the world’s first Zone 1 tablet enabling a whole new range of applications driving both safety and efficiency.
Lightweight and compact, operating on Android 4.4 KitKat, the Tab-Ex enables engineers to make informed decisions during inspection and maintenance. Real time analysis of business intelligence and connectivity to CMMS, SAP and Maximo ensures operators have up-to-date information on plant when they need it most.
The Tab-Ex can completely remove the need for paperwork and reporting when returning from the field, permits can be sent electronically along with work orders. Wrench time can be dramatically increased with the added benefit that data captured in the field will be more consistent and accurate, therefore improving analysis.
Not only are we releasing a Zone 1 version of the device but also Zone 2 and rugged versions of the Tab-Ex. This new range of hazardous area tablets is a revolution in the way mobile workers are able to carry out their daily work. Using this device during electrical inspection, a worker can record data on the device and send it immediately to a control centre, therefore significantly cutting down on work they have to do when returning to the office.
Users are able to benefit from ecom’s expertise in hazardous areas and Samsung´s experience in manufacturing high-end consumer technology. This ground-breaking device is comparable with any consumer device on the market with features such as a high-definition bright screen and exceptional battery life. The Tab-Ex is the ideal device for workers who are constantly moving between hazardous and non-hazardous environments as the Tab-Ex is not limited like other similar hazardous area devices.
