Nautitech launches new low-cost compact explosion proof thermal camera

02 December 2014

The world’s oil and gas operators are all too aware of the dangers of leaks on their facilities that go unnoticed to the naked eye. The value of thermal imaging for identifying such leaks and reducing the chance of fires in pipelines, tanks and various other areas is difficult to overstate.

But monitoring temperature changes in critical assets in explosive areas sounds expensive, and it is, until now. Australian company Nautitech has released a new low-cost explosion proof thermal camera that is compact, ultra-hardy and easily deployable.

It also has multiple hazardous area approval certifications in place, including IECEx Ex d I/IIC T5 MbGb, ATEX & MASC.
Nautitech General Manager Alex Lester says: “Thermal cameras are nothing new, the restriction for operators in hazardous areas has always been the high price point. Our new Extreme Cam Thermal comes in at a very low US$6,825.00. This will remove the budget bottleneck from thermography and help oil and gas operators cover a larger percentage of their problem areas”.

Nautitech’s full in-house design and production facility is located in Sydney Australia. If you want to measure temperature differences in more areas of your plant or facilities talk to Alex Lester at Nautitech on +61 2 9899 6857 or visit
