Thailand power plant blast kills two

11 December 2014

Two workers were killed after an air compressor exploded at a power station in Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand on December 11, according to The Nation. The district police chief Colonel Kasemsuk Nakornwilai said the explosion was due to a technical fault.

He said initial findings showed that the force of the explosion propelled the lid of the air compressor on to the first worker, killing him and injuring three others. One of the injured later died in hospital, and the other two are said to be out of danger.

"Because of the unforeseeable nature of this accident, the relatives of the deceased have decided not to press charges and technicians are working hard to identify the cause of the explosion," he said.
