Two killed in Nebraska railcar cleaning explosion

Fire authorities in Omaha, Nebraska, confirmed that two people were killed in an explosion on April 14 at a GE Capital Rail Services repair shop near a BNSF rail yard in the city. Omaha Fire Battalion Chief Tim McCaw says witnesses heard an explosion from a railcar.
He said one man who was found on the ground near the railcar died at a hospital. The body of a second worker who was trapped inside the car was retrieved later.Firefighters could not immediately reach the worker because of concerns about hazardous materials in the car.
GE Capital, Rail Services said in a statement:
"We can confirm there was an accident on a track at a rail car repair shop that we operate in Omaha on Tuesday, April 14. We are not in a position to provide details of what caused the incident at this time as an investigative team is on their way to the site to assess the situation. Right now we are focused on the safety of those in the shop and our thoughts and sympathies are with those who were affected by this unfortunate accident."
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
