Any new project will need to be powered, whether by mains or battery. The chemistry you choose will depend greatly on a number of factors, including the size and weight of a battery pack, but also the cost.
With portable equipment the main sources of power come in several different chemistry options: Lead-Acid, NiMH, Lithium rechargeable or even Alkaline batteries.
Once you have decided on the type of power you will need you then need a supplier who can offer advice and guidance on the various options. It may be that there are two different types of battery pack that will work in your project. Approvals and testing
All ANSMANN products are CE compliant. The standard battery chargers are usually available with other international approvals already in place. However, for customised solutions, other country approvals can be obtained.
The testing facilities at ANSMANN allow for testing of battery packs for transportation to UN 38.3. Six different test procedures simulate different and dangerous situations that may occur during transportation. Using state of the art equipment the packs are pushed to their very limit. The results are recorded electronically and a certificate is produced on successful completion. Power supplies and battery chargers are X-rayed at the RoHS test station to identify hazardous materials, such as heavy metals in devices and components.
Electromagnetic compatibility testing is also carried out using EMC test equipment. Finally, the ATE test station is able to test complicated battery packs and their corresponding complex safety boards fully automatically and quickly.
