‘Hazardous Areas’ Training takes off in Dubai (05 February 2013)
CSA-Sira Consulting Ltd recently held a training event in Dubai to an audience of some of the leading oil and gas operators in the region. In addition, delegates who attended the training also sat Unit Ex 001 assessment under the IECEx Competence of Personnel Scheme (CoPC), offered independently by Sira Certification Service.

CSA-Sira Issues 100th IECEx Personnel Competence Certificate. (14 January 2013)
On 21st November 2012, IECEx Certification Body CSA-Sira issued its 100th certificate under the IECEx Competence of Personnel Scheme. This now puts the number of people certified under the Scheme at 144 in total, with 3 other IECEx CBs having certified the 44 others.

IEC 61508 Software Accreditation - a World First (25 May 2010)
Sira has recently received notification to add software to its range of accredited Functional Safety certification services. The accreditation, awarded by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), confirms Sira as a leading provider of Functional Safety services, and the only body in the world to hold UKAS-accreditation for software assessment to Part 3 of the functional safety standard, IEC 61508.

CSA acquires Sira Certification (07 July 2009)
The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has acquired British conformity assessment company, Sira Test & Certification, which specialises in the testing of safety equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres. The acquisition, which is valued initially at £8 million also covers three affiliated companies: Sira Certification Service; Sira Environmental (SEL); and Sira Consulting (SCL).

UK’s first IECEx service facilities certificate issued (26 August 2008)
Sira has become the first certification body to issue an IECEx Certificate of Conformity for the repair and overhaul of hazardous area equipment to a UK-based repair workshop. The certificate, awarded to Detectronic, is the first of its kind to be issued in the UK under the IECEx Service Facilities Program, for which Sira was also the first organisation to be officially recognised as an Approved IECEx Certification Body.

Excellence rewarded at HazardEx International 2008 (01 May 2008)
This year’s HazardEx Awards were celebrated last month at a Gala dinner held at the East of England Showground in the UK during the 2008 running of the HazardEx International conference and exhibition. Cable glands certified at the double (01 November 2005)
Peppers' cable glands are devices that are designed to permit the entry of a cable into electrical equipment and which provide sealing and retention.
