San Bruno seeks $1.25 billion fine for PG&E over pipeline explosion (07 May 2013)
More than two years after a fatal pipeline explosion in San Bruno, California, city leaders plan to press state regulators to impose fines of more than $1 billion on PG&E Corp., the pipeline's owner. The September 2010 explosion of the natural gas pipeline caused a massive fire that killed eight people, injured 58 others, and damaged or destroyed more than 100 homes.

Ratepayer groups and the cities of San Bruno and San Francisco denounced the "unilateral" appointment of former Senator George Mitchell to mediate talks over how much Pacific Gas and Electric should be fined for safety violations in the 2010 pipeline disaster that killed eight people.

Final California PG&E pipeline blast scammer ends up in prison (17 July 2012)
The seventh and final person charged with scamming aid bound for survivors of the PG&E gas line blast in San Bruno has been sentenced to time behind bars. San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Robert Foiles gave Deonte Jerome Bennett of Oakland three years in prison for pretending to be a victim of the blast that killed eight people in September 2010.

Plastic gas pipes to be replaced in California after explosions (16 March 2012)
California state regulators have said large sections of Pacific Gas & Electric’s gas distribution network will need replacing because of the high risk of failure of a particular type of plastic pipe used extensively throughout the network. Pipes made by DuPont before 1973 from a plastic called Aldyl-A were responsible for explosions in Cupertino and Sacramento in 2011.

PG&E to pay San Bruno $70m for pipeline blast (13 March 2012)
Pacific Gas & Electric has agreed to pay the Californian city of San Bruno $70 million as compensation for the 2010 gas pipeline explosion that killed eight people and destroyed dozens of homes, the city and utility announced on March 13. This is thought to be the first time a municipality had been recompensed directly after an incident of this sort.

San Francisco sues US pipeline agency for PG&E explosion (17 February 2012)
San Francisco is sueing a federal agency for failing to enforce safety standards before the 2010 explosion of a PG&E Corp. gas pipeline in San Bruno, California, that killed eight people. In addition, negotiations between PG&E and the San Bruno municipality over restitution for the blast have apparently stalled.
