Industrial ethernet riding out the storm (08 November 2010)
Although over 5 million new Ethernet nodes were installed in industrial automation networks in 2008, the number was estimated to have fallen by 10.7% to fewer than 4.7 million in 2009, according to a recently published report from IMS Research, which analysed sixteen major product groups to assess their Ethernet networking connectivity and use. Forecasts of industrial production by sector were used to give a realistic projection of Ethernet use in industrial automation to 2014.

Security is priority in China (24 September 2010)
Security is the most important factor for Chinese users when they select an industrial network, according to the results of a China-focused user survey analysed by IMS Research.
Market analyst Alex Hong commented: "In high-risk industries, such as chemicals or gas stations, the security of network connection is always the highest priority. Any small delay or mishandling of data can potentially lead to disastrous accidents, apart from increasing maintenance costs."

Increased demand for non-standardised pneumatic components (16 June 2009)
Extensive consultation with suppliers of pneumatic components to the European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market showed that machine builders and end users increasingly require non-standardised components. A recent report from IMS Research on "The EMEA Market for Pneumatic Components" shows that the market for pneumatic valves grew from just over EUR260 million in 2005 to nearly EUR290 million in 2008. This was partly the result of increased demand for non-standardised valves.
