WEG has jumped ahead of the new IE2 electric motor energy efficiency standards regulations coming into effect in Europe in June this year by launching W22X, a full range of IE2, and IE3, standard high-efficiency electric motors. Choosing not to take advantage of exemptions in the EU regulations which provide a get-out clause for companies selling lower efficiency motors into hazardous areas. read more...

Sustainable fuel production in Europe (06 August 2010)
The first W22 high efficiency motors supplied by WEG in Europe - 3 off 200kW machines - are engaged in a ‘green’ process for the production of sustainable bio-fuels. The 4-pole 315L frame W22 motors have been supplied to BioWanze in Belgium. They are used with inverters in a mill that processes wheat and beet syrup to produce bio-ethanol. With this innovative system, BioWanze intends eventually to provide half the amount of the bio-fuel consumed in Belgium. read more...

Turnkey automation project provided at sugar mill (30 July 2010)
Famous across the world for its traditional aguardente (a strong alcoholic beverage obtained from sugarcane) the Ypióca group is investing in a new market: ethanol. The company has just inaugurated the Jaguaruana mill in the state of Ceará. Brazil. This has the capacity to produce between 40 and 60 million litres/year of ethanol, around 90 million litres/year of cachaça (another name for aguardente), as well as the capability to produce neutral alcohol. read more...

Smoke extraction motors for Sao Paulo project (26 April 2010)
The Fläkt Woods Group is using WEG premium efficiency smoke extraction motors on the ranges of ventilation fans it is supplying as part of a US $1billion project to construct a underground line (Line 4) for the Sao Paulo Metro in Brazil. Scheduled to open in 2010, the new line will serve 17m people in what is the largest city in South America. It will be 12.8km long, have eleven stations along its length, and be able to transport almost one- million passengers per day. read more...

Efficient power at Ratcliffe-on-Soar (10 June 2009)
E.ON, one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies, has recently installed two large Weg motors at Ratcliffe-On-Soar Power Station near Nottingham. Both motors have been installed in the Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) plant which helps to reduce SO2 emissions, while also creating commercial quality gypsum. read more...

An investment of US$ 50 million is required to start the project.
