Three injured in Maine agricultural chemical explosion 13 October 2017

Three people were hospitalised after an explosion at an agricultural building in Detroit, Maine on October 11, according to state police. Fire investigators said the explosion took place in an empty, 86-foot tall silo used to store sulphur. A grain bin explosion was caught on video on July 31 in Greene County, Indiana. WorkSafe Western Australia issues safety alert after silo dust explosion 10 October 2016

A safety alert has been issued after a farmer fell eight metres from a ladder and suffered serious injuries while trying to extinguish a barley grain fire in a large grain silo. According to the WorkSafe WA alert, the farmer had climbed the external silo ladder to access the hatch on the roof. As he attempted to put out the fire by squirting water into the silo, the suspended grain dust in the silo caught fire, causing an explosion that blew off the roof.
