New F830 purge and pressurization controller for zone2/22

19 January 2016

Building on years of experience, Kermaz designs and manufactures systems for use in hazardous areas. Our products include purged and pressurized enclosures for zone 1/21 and 2/22 used for gas analysers, PC terminals, label printers (with extraction of the label in the zone) and electrical boards, as well as Atex-certified antenna for WiFi, ISM band, GPS and cameras for several applications.

Based in Brittany, France, we have customers all around the world and can propose solutions for many hazardous area problems.

Today we would like to bring a new purge and pressurization controller for zone2/22 to your attention.

Concept

The use of pressurized enclosures allows the operation of non explosion-protected standard devices inside hazardous areas.

The protection type pressurization (Ex p) is based on the principle of keeping a constant cabinet pressure with a protective purge gas to prevent the hazardous area from entering the cabinet.

Flexible, simplified set-up

The F830 pressurized enclosure system has flexible configuration with separate installation of the inlet valve, outlet valve and control unit.

The inlet valve (solenoid valve SVD.L) and the outlet valve (LA830) can be mounted at various places on the pressurized cabinet. The compact control unit FS830 can be integrated in a user-friendly way direct into the cabinet wall.

Distinct purging time reduction

In case of higher flow rates during the purging phase, multiple LA830 outlet valves can be installed to shorten the purge time.

Due to the integrated spark barrier inside the LA830, the purge air can exit the cabinet directly into the hazardous area.

The control unit FS830 can be connected from the inside of the Ex pz housing without the need of additional cable glands or tube connections.

In some applications, the Ex- protection by a simplified pressurization system allows an operation without pre-purging of the cabinet. Here, the solenoid valve (SVD.L) can be replaced by the SD840 adjustable leakage compensation nozzle. The SD840 nozzle is also used for dust - Ex Zone 22 - applications.

A  by-pass system also allows the user to open the front door of the enclosure and access the systems installed inside.

Kermaz can make enclosures on request, based on your application or use any standard enclosures and equip them with accessories enabling them to be positioned inside hazardous area. The company will then deliver a declaration of conformity under cover of its ATEX notification issued by a notified body.
